Introduction
When it comes to trekking in South India then Kumara Parvatha trek is the best.This is the sixth highest peak in Karnataka.The Kumara Parvatha is a group of three peaks they are- Shesha Parvatha,Siddha Parvatha and Kumara Parvatha.Kumara Parvatha is also known as Pushpagiri Hills.The trek route of this Kumara Parvatha is really challenging.At first you need to reach Kukke Subrahmanya by your own vehicle or by public transport.This is the base of this trek.Kumara Parvatha is not a good place for camping.Bhattara Mane is a popular camping site for hikers.Before Kumara Parvatha the last camping spot is Kallu Mandapa.
How To Reach:
If you are coming from Bangalore then you can simply book a cab and reach Kukke Temple.It takes 2 to 3 hours from Coorg to reach Kukke Subramanya. Subramanya bus stand is near the town.You can book your tickets on the website of KSRTC.
The nearest railway stations to Kumara Parvatha are Mysore and Hassan.There are available train routes in Bangalore-Mysore express are the.
On The First Day
you have to reach Subrahmanya temple.Then 1.6 km walk will take you to the base from where your trek will be start.For the first few kilometres the trail will be go through a forest.At Bhatt’s house you can take a break.There is basic food available at Battere Mane.The price is Rs.150 and more.You need to pay Rs. 200 to the Forest House for overnight camping at Battere Mane.We suggest to carry enough foods and water with you.Trekkers can fill their water bottle from Battere Mane.
On The Second Day
You need to reach to the Shesha Parvatha which is the toughest part of the trek.This part is absolutely gorgeous.Before the forest once you climb the rock in 20 minutes you reach to the Kumara Parvatha.Which is also called the Pushpagiri Peak.And this part of this journey is just mesmerising
Things To Carry:
Here we have provided a list of things to carry for your trekking.
- Your regular medicines with basic first aid kit.
- Water bottle.
- A torch or a flashlight (with new batteries for emergencies).
- Carry chocolates,dry foods,Nuts,and energy bars.
- Toiletries,mosquito repellent cream or spray.
- Sunscreen and sunglasses.
- Raincoat.
- Tents, sleeping bags.
- You can carry your antifungal cream if you have sensitive skin.
- Last and the most important thing is to carry an identity card(Original and Photocopy).This is mandatory.It can be anything like Aadhaar,Voter or Pan card.
You can also discuss with your trek leader regarding the weather and other information so that you can pack your bag accordingly.

Kukke Subramanya Temple:
This beautiful Temple is located in the Subrahmanya of Kannada district.This temple is dedicated to Lord Kartikeya.Everyday this temple is open from 5 am to 8 pm.Many amazing rituals are performed throughout the year in this temple.
Pushpagiri Forest Reserve:
This bird sanctuary is located in Kodagu district of Karnataka.This is a home of flora and fauna.Here you can spot small sunbird,Grey headed bulbul, Nilgiri wood pigeon etc.
Abbey Falls:
Abbey falls is a waterfall in Kodagu, in the Western Ghats of Karnataka, India.This is a popular tourist destination among tourists.Earlier the falls are called Jessi Falls.
Mandalpatti Peak:
In Madikeri region of Coorg this Mandalpatti Peak is a high viewpoint.One can spot some beautiful peaks from the viewpoint like Uppangala Betta,Doddabeta,Hammiyala Betta,and the Katthipaare.
Biladwara Caves:
This is also a mythological attraction.Which is 10 m long and 30 ft deep.This Biladwara cave is at the entrance of kukke village.It is just on the way to Kumara dhara.This cave is visited by pilgrims who wish and want to take the blessings of lord Vasuki.
Best Time:
Humid climate conditions are the biggest enemy of this trek.So trekkers need to avoid the summer season.October to February one can say the post monsoon season till winter is the best time for visit here. Every year during summer from 1st March to 30th September the Forest Department closes the Kumara Parvatha trail because of forest fires. In monsoon the routes become slippery and result in injury.So you should avoid summers and monsoons for doing this trek.

Before attempting the trek you need to report yourself to the forest office and have to pay the entry fee which is Rs.350 per head.
Pro Tips:
During trekking you always carry your water bottle. Because this humid climatic condition may affect you. If you don’t drink enough water your body will be dehydrated which can ruin your total journey.
