Overview
Chanderkhani trek is located at an altitude of 3,650 meters and is near Kullu district of Himachal. The trek starts from the village Malana which is also called as village of taboo. The village surrounds 1500 inhabitants and is also known as a little Greece. The village has its unique architectural language, rituals and vastness in biodiversity. It is a great rek for beginners as it has an easy gradient and because of the easy paths on the way. Kullu and Parvati valley are what bridges the Chanderkhani pass. The starting point of this trek starts from Naggar.
The trek is also known as Valley of Gods holding a lot of religious significance. As it is believed that Jamlu the presiding deity at Malana he opened a basket and all the Gods of Kullu spread over the peaks due to strong winds and hence locals believe that the peaks of Deo Tibba, Indrasan, Pir Panjal, Parbati holds religious importance and are considered to be holy and these peaks can easily be spotted from the Chanderkhani pass.
The trek has the most delightful alpine pasturelands and it also gives the view of wonderful himalayan peaks. You get to trek through the dense forests of oak trees, Deodar which makes it more enjoyable at the same time.
Not only this the trek offers you to see the Bara Bengal rage towards the west region which although more looks magnificent. It offers you to view pir panjal which is towards the north and parvati valley which is towards the east. And when you reach the highest peak of Deo tibba you forget all your miseries and just see the surrounding beauty of mountains.
Some important points to note for beginners:
Beginners need to have proper training before going for the trek. They need to have proper clothing and gears. Secondly they should have trekking shoes with them as it would be difficult for them without it. And Other most important thing don’t forget to take on the camera with you so as to click mystic sites of the mountains. The backpack must carry light items so it should not be above 10kgs. Don’t forget to take the torch light with you.
Note: The trek usually covers 5 days to travel from Manali. And also during the day the weather is pleasant and during the night it gets cold so don’t forget to take on some extra woolen clothes with you. Best time to go for this trek is from May to September.
Itinerary for Chanderkhani trek:
First day- Trek from Naggar to Rumsu which is 2,150 meters and then trek to Stelling which is 1,350 meters.
Second day- Trekking from Stelling and reaching Chiklani Base camp which will take around 5-6 hrs.
Third Day- Trekking from Chiklani Base camp to Chanderkhani pass and descent to Nagrani Thach which will take around 6-7 hrs to reach.
Fourth Day- Trekking from Nagruni Thach to Malana which will take 5-6 hrs.
Fifth Day- Trekking from Malana to Jari which will take 3 hrs and then drive back to Kullu.

How to reach Chanderkhani:
By air- Nearest airport is Bhuntar which is 52 kms away from Manali. And then from Bhuntar you can easily access taxi services.
By road- Manali is well connected by road and you can wish to travel by your own transport or take an overnight bus from Delhi which will take approx 12-14 hrs to reach.
By train- Nearest railway station is Ambala which is 350 kms and Chandigarh which is 310 kms.
