Troubleshooting Tips to Fix When Brother Printer not Working

If your printer status is Paused

STEP 6: (Windows): A copy of the icon for your Brother machine

(For example BrotherXXXXXXXXX (Copy 1)) can be found in Devices and Printers

You can create a copy of your printer using the same name printer if you:

1. Modified the USB port of your computer that is connected to the Brother machine.
2. Multiple times I have installed the same printer driver.

To verify which printer driver is functioning, follow the following steps:

Turn on the Brother machine. Turn the Brother machine only on those machines that are connected.

1. Open the printer folder

3. Sound Devices, Printers, and Hardware.
4. Printers and Click Start Device.
5. Move your cursor over the printer icon to display the printer status popup.
6. The status of Ready means that the printer driver is functioning correctly. When printing, select this printer driver.
7. You can set this printer as your default printer by right-clicking the printer’s icon. This will display a checkmark on the icon of your machine and will automatically select this printer driver when you print again.

STEP 7: (macOS) – Make sure that you have the correct printer driver for your Brother machine.

1. Preferences for Apple Menu System Print Scan or Printers Scanners
2. Choose your Brother machine from the Printers section.
3. Verify which printer driver was used. This information can be found near the Type.
4. Select the AirPrint printer driver and add the CUPS driver to your Mac, as described below
