Things to think while buying succulent

What’s your succulent style?

You might be the one who pays too much attention to their plants or the one who cares the least. It depends on how you care for your plants and where you live( your residential area). For example, Haworthia fasciata is a great option for indoors while Echeveria varieties prefer to be outside. If you water your plants a lot, Portulacaria afra is a great option. If you rarely water your plants, try a cactus or succulent with very thick leaves.

What size should you get?

Succulents are available in a wide variety of sizes and a variety of prices. You will see that some sizes are easier to care for. It is said that larger plants are less fickle. They don’t dry out as quickly, that’s why they don’t need to be frequently watered. Also, the larger the pot, the easier for you to grow your plant.

Buying Local

You can buy them at a variety of stores depending on where you live or you can simply search for the succulents for sale. A few places able to find succulents locally are:

Buying a succulent from a local store always avoids damaged plants; this simply means – means no bumps, no scars, no bugs, and no mushy spots. While purchasing, check if the leaves should feel firm, not mushy or squishy. You can also go for the color, brighter color is simply a sign of good health and better maintained plant.

Benefits to buying online

The best thing about buying succulents online is that you will get wider varieties in them.  There are also better specimens, because sellers are experts. Also you will save the efforts, as the plants will be delivered at your door so there is no need to go outside for shopping.

If you are buying plants online it is possible that it might be a little bit dirty, simply use a soft brush to remove the soil.  If you are having an air compressor then it is also a good option. Never use canned air as it will damage the succulent’s leaves.

Replanting

It is advised to replant your succulents as soon as possible after purchasing them. While making a selection of your succulent you also need to have knowledge as few of them are not ideal for long term growth. Also few of them are also root-bound, meaning the roots aren’t able to spread, so they need more space to grow.
