The university is involved in the 211 and 985 projects with full support from the Chinese central and local governments. The University has been able to make a major contribution to national reconstruction and social development. In 1999, the famous magazine Science named Study MBBS in Wuhan University one of the most important universities in China.

The internship at Wuhan University will be organized after the completion of the course and will last for 1 year (minimum 48 weeks). Students can choose to take the internship in China or in another country. During the internship, the tuition fee remains 32,000 RMB per year. If the student wishes to take an internship in China, he or she must pass the new HSK 4 exam in order to work with patients.
Wuhan University will hold the internship at one of the two affiliated hospitals: Wuhan University Renmin Hospital and Wuhan University Zhongnan Hospital. Training of international students:
Wuhan University is among the first 30 universities to be granted permission to teach MBBS in English, as announced by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce. Wuhan is one of the first 30 countries in the world to announce a programme for teaching English as a foreign language to medical students. Currently, more than 5,100 medical students study there, including 600 foreign students from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Somalia, Canada, USA, Singapore, Thailand, Myanmar, Nepal and many other countries.
Through academic exchanges, the Centre maintains good relations and collaborations with hospitals and institutes in the USA, UK, France, Germany, Finland, Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Overall, Wuhan University has established cooperation with more than 400 universities and research institutes in over 70 countries and regions.
International students are usually admitted to Wuhan University’s College of International Education, located on the main campus, and they mainly live in the famous Maple Garden. The hostel is equipped with central air conditioning, telephone, broadband internet, closed-circuit TV, bathroom, and water heater.
