Five Band Saw Machine uses

A band saw is a must have for fore very serious woodworker. This tool is considered to be a versatile power saw that has the ability to cut through different types of materials. Its applications generally range from cutting lumber from metalwork to thinner boards. You need to find out how this tool works. Also find out how it can help ease your work.

Its functioning

Band Saw Machine has derived this name due to its cutting action. It is done by the blade that gets formed into continuous loop. Blade gets looped surrounding two pulleys that moves with the help of an electric motor. Blade gets firmly clamped in its place. As the saw turns around, continuous cutting action is performed by moving around pulleys.

Its uses

  1. Resawing: In woodworking, a difficult task is cutting wood pieces into two thinner wood pieces. This process is referred to as resawing. This task requires patience, time and a saw without limited cut capacity. On the table, the saw remains static, thus running blade in loop that is perpendicular to its teeth. Thicker blade is desired. To make straight cut, thin blade will not suit. Fence will be necessary to maintain straight cuts.
  2. Curved cuts: Band saw is favoured by many as it helps create curved cuts easily and effortlessly in wood. With its blade being stationary and in a loop, denser, bigger wooden pieces can be cut when compared to smaller portable saw. You are to trace out cut pattern on saw before time. It is because the wood has to be moved manually. It will reduce significantly operator error. Quarter-inch, thin blade will be desired for this purpose.
  3. Resetting boards: At one time, wood should not be cut into multiple pieces. This is more so if same angle is desired on all the pieces. This can be achieved by the band saw. Tape wood pieces desired to be cut together allowing them to hold fast. Then measure angle to cut. Outline the same on top one and position fence. To move stack via following outline, use blocks. Thick blade ensures optimum safety. You will also require Kebab Process Machines.
  4. Milling lumber: Basically, it is resawing the raw log along its four planes. Initial cut will be a tough one as no flat surface exists.  It just involves cutting off rounds. On completion, it is possible to resaw rough lumber of preferred thickness. Use thick blade. Avoid mill lumber larger than available vertical space on the table. Be slow and nice to avoid blade damage.
  5. Non-wood materials: Using a good blade, it is possible to cut some metals including PVC pipes. A few band saws are designed to be powerful enough to cut metal. Soft metals can be cut with wood band saw. Choosing the most appropriate blade for this purpose is similar to selecting between hand saw to cut metals and wood. One meant for metals is likely to have sharper, smaller teeth, being closer together.

Versatile addition

The fact is the band saw does make an important addition. Its unique construction allows cutting straight lines or curves. It can also be used for converting trees to usable wood or resawing lumber. The right blade can even cut different types of materials.
