Continue reading to find out all you need to know about the top no-clog log toilet, and high-flow toilet brands, including the American Standard Champion.
My toilet keeps clogging!
Are you frustrated by a toilet that clogs every so often? Do you use a plunger to clear it out? It is both annoying and gross to have your toilet clogged with a plunger each time you have a bowel movement.
Some toilet engineers are ingenious, even though they may not be called that on their resumes. They have created models that are nearly impossible to clog. These water-saving toilets don’t suck like rockets (as seen in planes).
The Best High-Flow Toilet Brands
- American Standard Champion Series
- The Drake Toto G–Max Toilet
- Promenade Toto G–Max Toilet
The Champion 4 is the cheapest and most affordable version. It cost us $140 at Home Depot. You can get sleeker-looking versions, too.
American Standard
1. American Standard Champion Series
Prices: $140-$500, depending on which features you select
Tank capacity: 1.6 gallons
My parents have the Toto Drake and we have the American Standard Champion 4. Both are widely available. My AS Champion was actually made in Mexico. It is a champion. It has only clogged up once in the two years that we have been using it. This was after we used a lot of no clog toilet paper. That could have choked a Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Installation Note: Although it was easy to install, we had to use some wooden shims to get it flush with the floor before we could caulk it in place.
Toilet Features and Benefits
- It boasts the industry’s largest tramway and flush valve: 2 3/8″ and 4″, respectively. It will move a “mass”, according to the company. It’s 70% more than the average industrial fiber. This is a lot of fiber!
- This toilet is virtually impossible to cloak, so you use a lot less water. Instead of flushing multiple times for each “sitting”, you only need to flush one time.
- A second, unrelated but still very useful benefit is the EverClean coating on the inside of your bowl. This prevents the formation of biofilm (most noticeable as a ring around the waterline). Based on our experience, I would say it works somewhat. However, you won’t throw away your toilet brush any time soon.
The Drake is rounder, more modern, and smoother than other toilets on the market.
Toto USA
2. The Drake Toto G–Max Toilet
Prices start at $350 (depending on the features).
Tank Capacity: 1.6 gallons
Toto of Japan produces a variety of stylish small corner toilets. They are so sleek-looking that you almost forget what they are for. The “G-Max”, high-flow units with almost impossible-to-clog capabilities, are made by Toto.
My parents have a Gmax toilet at their home and say they’ve never had any problems with it.

Installation Note: This toilet can be installed in a matter of minutes. You may need additional items depending on the features you select. These may include wax rings, toilet mounting bolts, and water supply lines.
Toilet Features and Benefits
- These toilets do not prevent clogs the same way AS toilets. American Standard still has the largest tramway and flush valve. Toto’s Gmax toilets are just a little smaller with a 3-inch flush valve and a 2 1/8” tramway.
- Toto’s version pairs the valve with an extremely powerful siphon jet, which gives it a little FWOOP! The sound is similar to airplane toilets, but not as violent.
- The Drakes start at $350 and the Promenades at $525. They might be cheaper if you shop at a discounter.
My parents have a lot more experience with the Drake than I do. My dad replied that they were great. Are there any problems? “None.”

3. Promenade Toto G–Max Toilet
Cost: From $350 to $350 (Depending upon model and features).
Tank Capacity: 1.6 gallons
Two lines of toilets from the Toto brand feature G-Max capabilities. The aforementioned Drake toilet is a bit wider and smoother-looking than the Promenade, but the Promenade is narrower and classier/old-fashioned looking.
This toilet is easy to install. Depending on the features you select, additional items may need to be purchased for installation or use. These include wax rings, toilet mounting bolts, and water supply lines.
Toilet Features and Benefits
- Toto describes Promenade models as having “Sanagloss”, a coating that covers the interior of the bowl to prevent the growth of mold and bacteria biofilms. This is similar in design to American Standard’s EverClean.
- Included is a G-Max Flushing System.
- It features a round-front bowl.
- It features a chrome trip lever.
- This tramway is computer-designed and fully glazed.
