Indian visa for Japanese Citizens Requirements
Under Indian law, legal rights and restrictions imposed on Japanese citizens depend on whether they are classified as resident or non-residents.
A valid visa, usually issued by the Indian Mission Abroad (i.e. Consulate of the Indian Embassy) abroad, is required to enter India. In addition, foreign nationals entering India must register with the Foreign Regional Registration Office (FRRO) within 14 days of arrival if they wish to reside in India for more than 180 days.
Qualifications
Visa-on-Arrival is granted to a Japanese citizen who comes to India for business, tourism, conference and medical purposes. This facility will not be available to citizens of Japan if a person or his / her parents or grandparents (parents or grandparents) was born or resides in Pakistan. This facility will not be available for holders of diplomatic/official passports and UN passport holders of Japanese nationality.
How to apply for a visa-on-arrival
Japanese nationals must fill out an application form and go to the “visa counter” at the designated airport upon arrival. After examining the eligibility criteria and fee payment, the immigration officer will stamp the visa-on-arrival in the passport.

Visa-on-Arrival is issued only for Japanese nationals at 6 designated international airports namely Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, and Hyderabad.
